About

Elizabeth M. Covington is a South Carolina native who started playing violin at age 9 in elementary school. After exploring all of the opportunities for strings in Spartanburg's public school system, she moved on to earn her Bachelor of Music degree from Converse College (now Converse University). While in college, she continued to explore everything music had to offer, including Irish fiddle, before graduating in 2009. Elizabeth continued teaching until she started a family and moved to the Lowcountry of South Carolina. She has used her love of teaching to homeschool her own children and shares that joy of exploration and discovery with them. She has participated in Georgetown Theatre Orchestra and with the Saltwater Chamber Orchestra, and she enjoys playing for churches in the area. She is also currently working with the Pawleys Island Music and Arts, which is funding for Georgetown County schools, starting with Sampit Elementary, to offer violin classes to the students.

Elizabeth Covington is committed to bringing more opportunities for string instrumentalists to the area and believes this can be best achieved by teaching more people the joy of making music!
